Assalamualaikum,
well, I've been updating my blog once per week am I ? This is because we have to do so, but nevermind, it isn't a big deal though :)
Okay, as for this week, like last week, our Electronic Class is replaced for another lecture session. And I really want to say that our speaker for this week is AWESOME ! AWESOME and TOO AWESOME ! xD
Enough with my introduction, let's go to our main entry, this is our speaker for today
Muhammad Azlan bin Amran
Senior General Manager, Administration Centre
He introduced us to Electronic System (a little) and what he stressed the most is about Canon Opto Malaysia, he also told us about his past, where he got a contract with canon on his 4th year and here he are, still working in Canon and become a Senior General Manager. Well, having contract with a company during last year program is good thing to have though, you can secure a place for you later on :)
Now, He taught us about 1 word, which is implemented by Canon itself, it is
KYOSEI
sounds like Japanese right ? but it isn't, they developed this word on their own, and this is the definition
KYO = together
SEI = living
well, seems like the words isn't arranged properly right ?
though this isn't a Japan word, but this was implemented by japanese, so the arrangement is according to their grammar, Canon is trying to unite the human as a 1, which is really fascinating. But Mr Azlan Azlan said it is hard to be achieved since there are many races in the global and not all of us can unite as a one, some might quarrel with others, not accepting for who they are and all sort of problems. Somehow, a quote won't be created for something easy to be grabbed right, so, this is a great quote afterall :D
and there we go, he showed us the products they made, and he kept telling us about camera stuff which is ... great, just great because Im a Canon DSLR user. He asked us (actually, he was asking Hakim who was sitting at the front) what do lens made of ? well, for me, the answer is quite simple, silicon for sure, and yeap, it made of silicon, manufactured by hot furnace which only have in Penang and Melacca, he told us they process of manufacturing products, the safety measures bout producing products. Well, he did tell us about some incidents happened in this industry, especially those who employed at the production line, those who was stamped by machine and others scary stuff. However, he encouraged us by telling the rewards and experiences we could earn there, all we need is to keep the safety ahead :)
========================================================================
Manufacturing Company Rules
Product design
this is where an engineer start their progress, they will design things by using the theories they learnt
Product Development
as for the past year, they have to generate a prototype here, where it will cost them pretty much bucks and it doesn't really promising ...
but as for today's onward, life have been easier, they can simply stimulate it in virtual world, which is more convenient and easy to be used, doesn't cost much either :)
Product mass / Product trial & Product mass production
Mr Azlan said that this is where the production line take place, they will create the real things and try the design so it will work properly, as for dslr, they will knock it down for few times and he said that even our dslr is knocked down ... which mean, no matter how new you buy, you will never get the first hand stuff from Canon, hahahaha
Sales and Services
Well, the name itself has tell all things, this is where the product will be distributed to consumer
========================================================================
right after describing this stuff, he went into something ... funny a while, at first, I guess Mr Azlan slipped his tongue for telling us that he has 2 wives, but later on, we made it as a joke, and manage to make uskeep laughing xD nahh, this isn't in the main point anyway, lets proceed with the next stuff :)
after telling few jokes to us, he told us about another Japan Culture which has to be take seriously which is
********************************************************************************
EQCD
Environment
Environment is playing the vital role in their concept, they won't produce something that will harm the nature, if it is, they prefer not to invent it.
Quality
As usual, japanese culture will always strive for the best, they will intensively research about the technology and stand in front of the others
Cost
People will buy the best quality with the cheapest price
this is how the cost be divided
1/3 - for development and research
1/3 - shop itself
1/3 - unindentify, Mr Azlan didn't said it .______.
Delivery
I have no idea about this, he said it ... like it is nothing, uhuhu ...
********************************************************************************
Next thing, he said something about document, did you guys know that each engineer has their own document ? what kind of document huh ?
It's about how far they have gone for their research, well, an engineer will retired when the time comes right ? so the previous engineer who has high knowledge is no longer available in the company, and the company has to start from 0 again. Documenting research will make task easier, new employee (engineer) can read what did the previous engineer do all these while and proceed their task at the same level, a company won't face a big lost for a single retirement.
He also gave a definition of test
test is to see people who can withstand with stress
he said the reason why employer will look for a high grader because they have high probability to manage their stress and did the task with no problem
then, he told us about his life with his wife and emphasize on this words
"IT'S IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER ALL DATES"
we were burst into laughed after he said it
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Not to forget, he told us about Production Engineer, as for what he said, this is all about production engineer
PRODUCTION ENGINEER
create the production line
tell them (product) what to do
assemble all the product, adjust to the acceptable tolerance
well, if they are facing problem, they will return to their books and find the way to solve it, well, it's like an open book test, wipe away the ego, and do some revision to make sure the product is nice enough
well, I remembered the most funniest words he said,
BANG process is the most important process in production
BANG here means they knock their product down and make sure it don't have any problem. whether its screw or any others components ... well, as for digital camera, we have 300-500 components within it, so, if 1 of it broken, it will no longer useful or the performance might turn out to be worst ...
Then, another important part is about the flow chart, this is for programming stuff, production engineer involve in programming a lot, that's how they tell the product how to work, the most important thing they have to do is
FLOW - CHARTING
this is because flow chart will make our progress even smooth
some of gifted engineer can easily visualize it in their mind, they don't do this, but if they having some problem, it will turn to be a big problem since they didn't arrange it in a proper plan, so they won't see where's their mistake.
then he suggested us to go to this web

The last thing we were discussed here is about Japanese Work Culture
There are 3 work culture we were supposed to discuss but due to lack of time, we were only capable to discuss about HORENSO and SANGEN
well, this is
HORENSO
which mean Job Style
(HOU)KAKU - Report
(REN)KAKU - Contact
(SOU)KAKU - Consultation
and another 1 is
SANGEN
which is 3 Gens
GENba - get to site
GENbutsu - see actual
GENjitsu - get to reality
well, I just wanna let you guys to know that this is the most spectacular lecture for the class replacement so far, Im looking forward for the filed trip next class, we are going to Canon Opto at shah alam :D
okay, that's all for my entry today, hopefully you guys get the same input as I am, though I can't delivered it as fun as he is, but I really want to you guys to know that he is awesome, funny and awesomely funny xD
